Xmas posting

Hi Guys,

As Xmas creeps ever closer there can be some last minute panicking to buy those final gifts. Often its a little bit worrying buying items online at this time of year as you can't be too sure that items will arrive in time for the big day.

At Bikegoo we aim to offer a truly personal service to try and get your items to you as quickly as possible. So, if you absolutely have to have your items in time for Xmas please send us an email or give us a call to let us know. We will try and get your items sent through carriers that aren't currently struggling with a backlog or with excessive seasonal demand and will hopefully give your parcel the best chance of arriving with you on time.

We will, of course, continue to despatch all normal orders within 24 hours of receiving them (during the week) via 1st Class post or through our courier partners and you still stand a good chance of getting them the next day anyway! We just thought we'd offer this additional service to help put your mind at rest in the run up to Xmas.

Have a good one!

*** SNOW UPDATE - 4TH DECEMBER ***

Hi Guys,

Good news! The snow is gradually vanishing and all orders that have been slightly delayed in the last couple of days have now been despatched. The last of them caught the Saturday post today so should be with customers very soon. We're bang up to date despite the snow's best efforts to cause us problems.

Bikegoo is open tomorrow too, to catch up on workshop servicing jobs but if anyone is planning to come up to the workshop best bring a 4x4 as the road to our workshop is still very bad indeed.

Thanks to those customers who have been patient with us in the last couple of days, but normal service has now been resumed.

Cheers

*** SNOW UPDATE - 2ND DECEMBER ***

Hi Folks,

I'm sure you don't need reminding but as the news keeps telling us, snow is continuing to cause problems for the majority of the UK.

At Bikegoo we are unfortunately having a few problems too. Our workshop and warehouse are currently inaccessible via road thanks to the snow and ice. This means Royal Mail and our couriers can't get up to us and therefore we are currently unable to despatch most orders. As soon as this weather improves a bit we'll get things moving again.

We'll be working all weekend until the early hours if that's what it takes for us to catch up (so long as the snow has improved by then!).

We're sorry about this but we'd ask our customers to wait a couple more days than usual when receiving their orders.

If you have any questions, please email them through to us on support@bikegoo.co.uk

Thanks in advance for your understanding guys!

Bike maintenance, not just for Xmas...

Bike maintenance is often over looked when it comes to that heartfelt Christmas present for someone special. Even if that particular person is cycling mad, their friends and family generally opt for a set of Sealskinz or maybe some arm warmers for an Xmas gift (at least thats what mine do!).

But this year, why not go for a decent set of allen keys or push the boat out and buy a workstand for that special someone? Whatever it is, we've got everything a maintenance-savvy cyclist could possibly want for Xmas so why not mosey over to the Bikegoo webpage and see what we can tempt you with.

We'll also be running a few short term special offers on some of our stuff in the lead up to Xmas so make sure you're keeping an eye on us or else you may miss out!

Bargains!

Hi Guys,

Just thought we should write a little blog post to tell you about our new "Bargains" category on our Bikegoo webpage. This is a new option on our page and basically gives us an avenue to sell off things really cheaply. These things aren't necessarily "bike maintenance" so we thought we'd better create a new category just for them. The things we chuck in here are often things we've bought for our workshop for cycle servicing jobs but for some reason we ended up not using them. So we need to get rid of them super cheap!

You can get some great deals and the "Bargains" category will be constantly added to as and when we have more bits we need to get rid of, so keep your eye on it! In there at the moment are things like tyres, grips and even some suspension forks and who knows what's going to be next???

So check it out here and grab a great deal!

X Tools join the Bikegoo gang

Hi Folks,

Another quick bit of news. We've recently taken on another brilliant brand offering great value and a diverse range of tools for the home or workshop mechanic. X-Tools is very much concerned with offering the best value tools but not compromising on quality.

So where does this fit into our range? Good question, we already have Ice Toolz on board who have without a doubt been one of our most popular brands since day one. So why take on another value tool brand? Well X-Tools has a range of tools that compliments our existing Ice Toolz lineup. They do stuff that Ice Toolz currently don't and by sitting the two brands together we feel we get a stunning budget range of tools that is hard to beat!

Take for example the X-Tools headset press.

£55.99 for something as solid and well made as this, that is universal and will fit almost any headset. Or their chain scrubber that for £10.99 employs a design only found on the very best chain cleaning tools at almost twice the price.

Check out the range of range of X-Tools at Bikegoo and get yourself an excellent value treat for your toolbox!

Cheers

Suspension Servicing & Spares

Hi Folks,

We've been beavering away at Bikegoo, expanding our workshop operations and developing our webpage. The latest development is suspension fork servicing. We're now able to service any Rock Shox, Marzocchi or Fox fork which includes a full strip down, a check for damage, oil change and fitting of replacement oil seals / dust seals /foam rings if required.

We offer all this for just £25 (cost of seal kits and replacement parts are extra). If you are interested in taking us up on this please contact us at support@bikegoo.co.uk

Aside from our workshop servicing we've started building up our range of suspension servicing products available on our webpage. We now have a huge range of suspension oils, lubes and greases and a range of seal kits for servicing your forks at home... all at cracking prices.

Remember if you have any questions relating to our workshop servicing, or if you're not sure what components you need to buy for your forks, just let us know and we'd be happy to help.

Happy riding!

Juice Lubes @ Bikegoo

A bit slow on the write up here as we've been stocking the Juice Lubes Super Gnarl cleaner for ages now, but nevertheless... Juice Lubes have arrived at Bikegoo! The range currently consists of a cleaner and two lubes (they make a cracking "fork juice" too but alas due to Royal Mail restrictions about posting aerosols, its not one we can currently stock).

So, we have the Super Gnarl cleaner, the Ceramic Juice chain lube and the Chain Juice. The Super Gnarl is a concentrated cleaner that can be diluted up to 10 times. So from one bottle you get 10 litres of normal strength cleaner. Excellent value and the performance is great too. It got a thorough usage after our recent jaunt to the Muc-Off 8 and a couple of bikes were not a pretty sight! This stuff worked like a charm (even though I think we watered it down a little more than we should have!).

The Muc-Off 8 saw a thorough testing of Chain Juice too, the wet lube from Juice Lubes. Its thick and stays put and is great value. I have to give a bit of praise to the wonderfully designed nozzle on the bottle with a twist open/close system that is vastly useful.

The final product is the Ceramic juice, a thinner cloudy lube with a complicated make up of all sorts of technological bits and bobs. Its meant for dry to moist conditions and claims to improve shifting performance. If it does that it is worth its weight in gold! It will be getting a thorough testing over the next few weeks but initial impressions are good.

If you're interested get your hands on some right here at Bikegoo!

Cheers

Bikegoo @ the Muc-Off 8 Enduro

Last weekend Bikegoo headed over to Pippingford Park in Nutley (literally round the corner from our workshop in Hartfield) to compete in the Muc Off 8 hour enduro MTB race. Bikegoo teamed up with our local riding buddies Days of Speed to form three teams.

And it was quite bloody tough. The route was very up and down with some severe muddy sections that sapped the legs and made things a little more gooey. There were some really enjoyable points too including some nice riverside singletrack and a couple of swoopy downhills. You don't get that sort of thing at the other more well known enduro events!

Overall our teams finished 51st, 69th and 87th (that includes a 4th place in the Mens Vets Teams category). Brilliant results and a very enjoyable day. Well organised, good course (if only it had been a little drier!) and good fun.

Roll on the next one. We'll be there!

Bike check over routine from our friends at Pedros

We found this nice little video from our friends at Pedros that gives a quick overview of the key things to look out for when checking your bike for wear or damage. If you follow this check procedure every so often you should be able to diagnose any potential problems at an early stage... which can then be sorted by your local bike mechanic... rather than leaving them unattended, allowing them to cause far more damage to the bike (and your pocket!) later on.

If you have any problems with your bike that you aren't sure about or if you need any help with your bike maintenance routine, give us a call or send us an email and we'll do our best to help!

New Bits from Ice Toolz

We've recently taken delivery of a few new tools from Ice Toolz. There are some really clever little innovations coming out of the Ice Toolz stable this year so we're quite excited to have them on board.

The first batch of new Ice Toolz bits that we've received includes a BMX Chain Whip, a BMX Chain Tool and a rather nifty Trail Buddy toolkit.

Why not have a quick look by clicking on the images below...

The Bikegoo Sample Box

Here at Bikegoo we occasionally receive samples and advertising products from our lovely suppliers which can be given away to customers to help publicise new and exciting products.

When we receive them here at Bikegoo they all go into our "free sample box" and any customer is welcome to take one.

Unfortunately the samples haven't been shifting very fast so we're going to start dishing out free samples to anyone who places an order on bikegoo and writes "free sample please" in the additional comments box at the checkout of their order. You'll only receive one and it will be completely at random!

At the moment in we have a few samples of Squirt Lube, some Squirt stickers/chainstay protectors, some old Purple Extreme samples and a few other random bits too.

We've got more coming in all the time and sometimes the samples can be quite good so it doesn't hurt to try!

Pedros Vice Whip Help Videos

Pedros Tools are always looking at new ways to approach bicycle maintenance. Their ever expanding range of ingenius tools aim to make the art of maintaining your bike as easy as possible.

One of their latest tools, the Vise Whip (their new locking chain whip), appears to have created a bit of a stir. We've had quite a few customers enquiring... How does it work? Will it fit on my bike? What a strange design... Is it tough enough?

Well the kind folk at Pedros have pointed us in the direction of a couple of great instructional videos to help bring the vise whip to life.

The two videos can be found on YouTube by following the below links:

1) The guys at Pedros run through how the tool works and show you how to remove your cassette lockring (also highlights the super useful Pedros Pro Socket Handle and the HG Socket!). Click here to view.

2) Lennard Zinn, the designer of the Vise Whip runs through how it works and how the design came about. Click here to view.

And once you've watched those videos, if you fancy getting your hands on your very own Vise Whip you can find it on Bikegoo here.

We hope this helps!

Squirt gets glowing review in Dirt Magazine

We're a bit slow on reporting on this one (as Dirt reviewed this back in October last year!) but we thought its definitely worth mentioning.

Basically its another glowing review for Squirt bike lube. The full Dirt write up on the item can be found here.

The great thing about this review is that its not just the guys at Dirt who think its ace. Look at the comments at the bottom of the review. Proper normal bike folk love it too.

So far we've sold a lot of Squirt, its the lube of choice on the Bikegoo team bikes and we've only had praise back from everyone who has used it.

So, if you've not given it a go yet, its about time you did... its available on bikegoo right here.

Muc Off 8!

We just wanted to put a quick note up about what could be the best MTB event of the coming months. The Muc-Off 8 MTB Enduro event will be taking place on the 11th April at the Pippingford Estate in Nutley. Its a cracking 8 hour endurance fest for solos, pairs and teams of three or four. The great thing about this is that its just down the road from the Bikegoo workshop in Hartfield.

And because its on our doorstep we will be entering at least one team in the event and we'll be gunning for glory!.. or at least trying to avoid shameful disappointment!

Bikegoo will be open late on the Friday before the event (the 9th) and if anyone needs any last minute tinkering doing to their bikes or requires any of those essential spares please give us a call and drop in.

Remember, the South East doesn't get events like this very often, so you'd be foolish to miss out!

For all information about the event please visit the Muc Off 8 webpage here.

See you at the start line!

Singletrack Magazine's Benji Loves Pedros Tyre Levers

We're big fans of Singletrack Magazine at Bikegoo and the latest issue includes a great section where the key Singletrack folk talk about their favourite bikes and components. Benji Haworth's selection included the fantastic Pedros Tyre Levers. He says...

"Not a glamorous or exciting choice but everyone needs tyre levers now and again. These are the best ones. Simples."

We couldn't agree more. So if you fancy trying out a set of the "best" tyre levers there are, you can find them here.
